About Unified Healing & co

Unified Healing & co was inspired by my experience working in the mental health field for many years, noticing that not all practitioners and health care providers worked in the best interest of the client, and that clients were often left wondering where to find professionals they felt safe and support by.

Unified Healing & co was also born from my love of animals. My desire to assist animals with their pain, connect with them on a deep level, and have animals connect with humans in an intentional and therapeutic way.

Myself, I was left searching for a space that supported both scientific and alternative approaches for humans and animals. Unified Healing & co aims to support people to become empowered in their own lives, build on their skills to manage their mental health to find balance, learning new perspectives, and no longer keep themselves ‘small’.

Explore your capabilities further in a safe and non-judgmental space.

Harnessing the belief that if you want to change your life you can, one decision at a time, and that you don’t have to do it alone!

The name was inspired by a set of Oracle cards that I own. For a period in my life, the ‘Unity’ card was repeating over and over again. It was at a time that I was dreaming of my own Practice and I knew that I wanted to incorporate it somehow.

Unity: Union, Unify. Community, Cooperation, Spiritual Home.

It asks us to look at our needs and goals, seeking cooperation and community, looking at what we have in common with others, where are our strengths and limitations. We must work together in order to achieve our goals, and no one should attempt to do everything on their own. Through doing this we can learn and grow. Unified in ourselves and unified as a community, amongst the chaos. We have much to gain by remembering our wholeness.

Why healing? I believe healing comes in all forms and isn’t to be mistaken for ‘fixed’ or ‘cured’. Healing ebbs and flows throughout our days and lives, and looks different for every person. The focus for Unified Healing & co is between mental health support through counselling for humans, and bodywork for animals.

What is Holistic Counselling?

Holistic counselling works with a person as whole, integrated individual, rather than looking at their health, psychological concerns, and mental illness as separate issues. It considers how the mind, body, and soul interconnect.

Holistic counselling differs from conventional counselling in that it seeks to inspire clients to become more empowered in making assessments in their own life. The focus is around identifying desired outcomes that, with tailored guidance, support, and tools, the client can develop the necessary skills that assist in achieving the desired outcomes for themselves. Knowing there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’, but things just are. You have the ability to create change in your own life.

At Unified Healing & co, this means that you can show up fully as your true self, whole, and perfect just as you are, without judgement from myself.

How can I help?

The world can feel very ‘noisy’ at the moment. It is time you felt ease, comfort, and allowed yourself to tune back in with yourself, your body, and your soul.

I am passionate about supporting my clients with understanding their needs, wants, and desires. How to communicate this to others with confidence. The importance of ‘filling your own cup’, finding balance and boundaries in your relationships, learning and un-learning healthy and un-healthy patterns and behaviours, and connecting back in with your intuition and ‘gut’ feeling.

A safe and sacred space to share what is on your mind and in your heart. It is my aim to make you feel supported whilst you are divinely expressing yourself, your challenges, your strengths, and limitations. Let your inner wisdom re-surface, and release any stress and tension from your mind and body.

About Me

Hi there! I'm Alice Paton, a Holistic Counsellor. I have worked in the mental health space for 7+ years. Primarily with adults, young people, and families in early intervention, suicide prevention, and in mental health education.

I've spent many years facilitating group programs with parents and young people in Schools. My sidekick Leo (black lab) and I have completed Dog Therapy Training together. I look forward to incorporating Animal Assisted Therapy into my services in the future.

Aside from that, I have a huge passion and love for working with animals and have studied canine body work modalities. I am a Canine Bowen Therapist.

Taking a holistic approach to care, I aim to guide clients to explore themselves with curiosity and an open mind. It is my goal to guide clients to uncover root causes, rather than just symptom management. To feel safe and comfortable to express themselves, expand their mind, speak to their true identity, and walk with their head held high. I enjoy supporting people to connect back into their own intuition to create balance in their lives.

I believe that connection and empathy are essential to create a trusting therapeutic relationship. I focus on providing a safe and caring space for clients, and I invite them to lean into this space with me.

FAQ's

What is WEBB Canine Body Work?

Whole Energy Body Balance (WEBB) Canine Bodywork is healing bodywork treatment method that effects the body and energy systems of an animal.

It is gentle physical modality that involves subtle moves on the dog’s body, stimulating the body to heal itself, often profoundly. The moves deliver signals to the nervous system at specific locations (on muscles, tendons, ligaments, or nerves), and the body responds in its own time, within its capacity. It can provide relief for many types of injuries and other health problems, both acute and chronic. WEBB is performed on the superficial and deep fascia, influencing every organ and tissue in the body.

Each treatment is unique, tailored to the needs of the patient in the moment. WEBB is a fluid, flexible, intuitively guided combination of many advanced hands-on skills.

What are some benefits to Bodywork?

  • Increase in relaxation
  • Increase in blood flow and oxygen throughout the facia/connective tissue to assist with pain, tension, including pre/post surgeries
  • Assists with lowing anxiety (works great alongside dog training)
  • Increase in mobility and flexibility
  • Increase in energy, great for older dogs
  • Arthritis and other health conditions where they may need additional support to remain comfortable, alongside regular vet care
  • Can result in shinier fur

What is the difference between WEBB Body Work and Bowen Therapy?

WEBB and Bowen are similar in ways, however WEBB is more flexible in its approach. Bowen Therapy focuses on very specific sequences on a dog’s body to invite blood flow, circulation, and release tension, tightness, and assist in the body to heal itself as well. Each treatment is unique and tailored to the needs of the dog.

In some instances, I will direct you and your furry friend to your Vet Clinic for further assistance if appropriate. Body work cannot be replaced by Veterinary Care and always seek assistance from your Vet if you have concerns.

We ask that you give us as much notice as possible when you are needing to cancel. Cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment will incur a cancellation fee.

What is the fee per 60 minute appointment?

The fee per Holistic Counselling appointment is $150

The fee per Bodywork treatment is $60, travel over 30 minutes is an additional 76c per kilometer.

I already saw a Psychologist and it didn’t work. How do I know this will be any different?

Counselling and psychology are different services. Counselling is not about assessing or diagnosing you with a mental health condition.

In fact, Counselling is focussed on making you feel comfortable and at ease because only then, can we start to really understand what’s happening for you and begin to create change together from there.

Do you bulk bill / Can I use a GP Mental Health Care Plan?

No. Ours is a fee-for-service practice.

What are you working days?

Currently open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30am - 6pm

Testimonials

Alice did some healing work on our girl Hazel over the weekend. She had such a sore back and wouldn't let us touch her without flinching. Alice gainer her trust quickly and worked her magic. Normally she would flinch if we touched her back in the wrong spot but she let us love her and cuddle her like nothing was wrong.

She's also been more playful and full of personality since!

- MEGAN

Alice's gentle approach to working with Bazzy was fantastic. We saw massive improvements in his movement, flexability and mood after their sessions. Alice quickly built a bond with Bazzy. We would absolutely love to have Alice work with any of our dogs again.

- Hayley

Alice has treated our dogs on a number of occasions. Our Spaniels' experience separation anxiety and have benefitted from relaxation and calming techniques that Alice has utilized. Our Boxer has benefitted from treatment to his hips and back as his age increases. All three dogs have improved with the release of the tightness in their muscles and the calming nature of Alice's touch. They are always happy to see Alice. Highly recommend.
